Internationally renowned concert pianist showcases deep connection to the cultural roots of Spanish and French music

Spanish concert pianist, recording artist and virtuoso, Daniel del Pino led an absolutely captivated audience through some of the most daring, tempestuous, organically beautiful, Andalusian-inspired classical pieces by the most renowned Spanish and French composers of La Belle Ḗpoque (the late 19th and early 20th centuries) Sunday, May 31, in Music Recital Hall on the Southern Oregon University Campus.
Like many of Anima Mundi productions presented through the Oregon Center for the Arts, the audience sat in stunned silence as del Pino presented the dreamlike, cascading notes of Maurice Ravel, the enticing Spanish arabesques of Isaac Albéniz, the whirlwind intensity of Manuel de Falla, and a gentle surrender to the moonlight by Claude Debussy, among others.
Del Pino has an intimate familiarity with Spanish and French music and with the piano, as if he had been playing these pieces and this instrument through several lifetimes...
