Local nonprofit Anima Mundi Productions presents piano virtuoso Daniel del Pino, called "One of the best Spanish pianists of our time" in solo recital in Ashland

Local nonprofit Anima Mundi Productions is proud to announce that the next concert of their Ashland-based Heart of Humanity concert series will feature internationally acclaimed pianist Daniel del Pino. This unique solo recital features Flamenco-infused Spanish salon music with touches of French impressionism, interwoven with original poetry by Anima Mundi Productions’ resident poet, Tiziana DellaRovere.

“Deservedly considered one of the best Spanish pianists of our time,” as described by the Spanish publication RITMO, Daniel del Pino has won first prize at six national piano competitions and multiple international competitions, with additional awards in Morocco and the United States.

An international life

Del Pino was born in Lebanon to Spanish parents, and later studied in Morocco and Madrid, and at Yale University, where he was singled out with multiple awards. He has performed on every continent except Antarctica, and is regularly featured at major festivals in Spain, Brazil, Mexico, Switzerland, France, Israel, and North America, captivating audiences worldwide from New York's Carnegie Hall to Madrid's Auditorio Nacional.

A prolific live performer and recording artist, del Pino has been broadcast live across Europe and the Americas and has recorded the giants of the Spanish repertoire—as well as some of the most virtuosic works of the classical canon—with multiple recording labels. He is currently the Eva Browning Artist-in-Residence and professor of piano at Texas Tech University.

From the land of Flamenco

Del Pino specializes in the music of turn-of-the-century Spain, featuring composers like Albéniz, Granados, Turina, and de Falla, a musical world rich in flamenco influences. While some audiences may be less familiar with Spanish classical music than with the French composers Del Pino will perform—Debussy and Ravel—they will certainly recognize many of the guitar-inspired melodies that have made their way into popular imagination over the past century.

For Love of Nature

In keeping with Anima Mundi Productions’ theme for the 2025-26 season, For Love of Nature, Daniel del Pino’s landscape-rich music will be interspersed with original poetry by resident poet Tiziana DellaRovere, weaving a beautiful thematic tapestry that celebrates the beauty of our world.
