Pianos for Peace Oregon

In the fall of 2019, Anima Mundi Productions proudly partnered with Atlanta-based nonprofit Pianos for Peace to launch Pianos for Peace Oregon. In addition to creating our own Pianos for Peace featuring Oregon artists, we invited the founder of Pianos for Peace, Malek Jandali, a Syrian-American musician and peace activist, to perform his own world-renowned compositions on our concert series. He was joined by Oregon-based cellist Michal Palzewicz and oud player David Rogers.

Pianos for Peace Oregon

Sept. 30 - Oct. 7, 2019 | Ashland, OR

During the first week of October 2019, we placed two beautifully painted pianos in downtown Ashland for all to play and enjoy.

Piano #1 was painted by our professional artists, Judy Grillo and Tiziana DellaRovere. It was placed at the corner of E. Main and S. Pioneer streets.

Piano #2 was painted by Phoenix High School students under the instruction of art teacher Jessica Rollins. It was placed in Lithia Park, just downhill from the Playground.

Free Community events

In addition to Pianos for Peace, we partnered with Peace House, the Ashland Culture of Peace Commission, and the Havurah Synagogue to produce a series of free events featuring Malek Jandali.

At the conclusion of the festival, we donated one piano to the Armadillo Technical Institute and the other to the Phoenix Civic Center, both in Phoenix, Oregon.
